Top 5 Things to See & Do in Dublin

If you are planning a 2 or 3 day visit to Dublin you want to make the most of your time and plan your trip carefully.
 
There are a thousand things to see and do in Dublin but we have made life a little easier for you by narrowing down the sites that we hold dear to our hearts.
 
Of course, this is not an official top 5 things to do but we are pretty sure that you won’t be disappointed if you decide to follow this guideline.
 
All these attractions are within easy reach of Glencourt Apartments and can be easily accessed on foot or by using public transport.
 
1. Phoenix Park
On our doorstep (8 minute walk from Glencourt Apartments). This is Europe’s largest urban park and is home to our President and the American Ambassador to Ireland.
 
It also houses Dublin Zoo and whether you want to walk or run you can find plenty of space to do so in its 707 hectares.  Bike hire is available here too which is another wonderful way to get around.

2. Guinness Storehouse
A must for anyone interested in the history of Guinness and how it’s made.
 
A great way to spend an afternoon and learn about the famous black stuff and finish off with a pint in the Gravity bar. You can pick up a lot of gifts and souvenirs here as well. Bookings are best made online in advance at www.guinness-storehouse.com
3. Jameson Distillery
Again this is right on our doorstep and can be easily reached on foot in less than 10 minutes.

4. Kilmainham Gaol
Discover some of the the history of our country by visiting here. It’s a tribute to all that fought for our country through rebellions and civil wars and many patriots were detained here as well as executed. Online booking necessary at www.kilmainhamgaolmuseum.ie
5. Trinity College/Book of Kells
Trinity College is Ireland’s oldest college and dates back to 1592.
 
Swift, Beckett, Goldsmith and Wilde all studied here and it continues to be a world leader in terms of academia and historical value. Walking tours are available and are a great way to see the impressive building and architecture.
 
Also not be be missed is the Book of Kells and the Old Library exhibition which also must be booked online at www.tcd.ie/library/old-library
 
Located in the heart of the city centre there are plenty of restaurants bars and cafes all within easy reach.
